IMB Alumni devs were all over E3 2019! Before the main event even started we spotted 29 Alumni games that were featured in Kinda Funny’s indie E3 showcase! In case you missed it, check out the video embedded below. The panel also gave shout outs to indies and indie dev allies who are positively contributing to gaming communities. The panel - Giant Squid’s Erica Hsu, Victoria Tran from Kitfox Games, Shawn Pierre of OriGaminc, and Mobeen Fikree of Vertex Pop - discussed the unique challenges indie game devs/studios face in addition to where they see the state of indie game development in 5 – 10 years. Kelly also moderated a panel called “Inside Indie Game Development” held at the ESA Foundation and Red Bull’s We Are booth. They also discussed the importance of self-care and finding work-life balance. On day one of the show, Kelly, Victoria Tran ( Kitfox Games), and Robin Hunicke ( Funomena) discussed the indie scene at E3, various projects the panelists are working on (psst… Luna by Funomena launches on PS4 and PS VR this week), robotics, and naturally, The Cheesecake Factory. This year, Kahlief Adams and Dylan Ward joined forces to bring loads of industry pros together for an E3 podcast series. Stick around for a passionate discussion about rodeo clowns and chuckwagon races at Calgary Stampede games. Check it out as the group goes deep on best practices for avoiding leg cramps, and shoe aficionados versus shoe enthusiasts. Finji brought along co-founders Adam and Rebekah Saltsman in addition to Guest Name Reference Text community manager Harris Foster, and PR/marketing extraordinaire Felix Kramer. Kelly joined esteemed indie game royalty from publisher/developer Finji ( Night in the Woods, Tunic) along with Giant Bomb‘s Jeff Gerstmann to banter about the burning issues of E3 2019. ![]() Kelly specifically had a few guest appearances on panels and podcasts, while a number of IMB Alumni devs were featured on and in various live-streamed showcases. While Indie MEGABOOTH didn’t have a formal presence on the show floor, that doesn’t mean our team and indie devs weren’t participating in fun and exciting ways. IMB founder Kelly Wallick and loads of Alumni devs had an eventful E3 2019! Droves of fans and industry professionals alike swarmed the Los Angeles Convention Center to check out the latest and greatest from the video game industry.
